Today’s episode is taking a look at Beverley Allitt who murdered four children, attempted to murder three other children, and causing grievous bodily harm to a further six.

Listener discretion is advised as this is a horrific crime carried out by someone the families trusted to take care of their children. There are descriptions of abuse, miss treatment and murder involving young children and older adults.

Beverley Allitt is an English serial killer born in 1968. She murdered four children, attempted to murder three other children, and causing grievous bodily harm to a further six. These attacks were carried out over a period of 59 days on a children’s ward where she worked as a nurse. She was in a position of trust and the parents trusted her to take care of their children. She offered condolences to the parents and even became a godmother to another child of one of the parents.

Psychological analysis of Ashley Humphrey

This case examines the murder of Sandra Rozzo in 2003. She was shot 8 times at point blank range by Ashley Humphrey. Humphrey had never been in trouble with the law before this point and claimed that she was made to kill her by her Husband, Timothy Humphrey who was known as Tracey to his friends. She was 20 years old at the time of the shooting and claimed he was abusive and controlling. Timothy was 16 years older than her when they married. Rozzo, Timothy Humphrey’s ex-girlfriend, was due to appear in court to testify against him on battery and sexual assault charges in Florida in 2003. However, she was murdered before she could testify. Although Ashley was the person who shot Sandra, she took a plea deal for a lesser sentence as long as she testified against her husband. Ashley Humphrey was sentenced to 25, while Timothy Humphrey is serving life.

Psychological analysis of Ted Bundy

Ted Bundy was an American serial killer who kidnapped, raped, and murdered numerous young women and girls during the 1970s and possibly earlier. After more than a decade of denials, he confessed to 30 homicides, committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978. His true victim total is unknown, and believed by some investigators to be higher.

There is a lot of information available on Ted Bundy, including a recent documentary which contained extracts from taped interviews he gave whilst on death row. These give us some insight into Bundy’s dark mind. Often when you closely examine their life before they killed there are often clues which may be the key to understanding why they killed.

Psychological analysis of Richard Huckle

Richard Huckle is a British man who raped and abused hundreds of children, mostly in Malaysia. Richard Huckle is one sick individual. Huckle was convicted of 71 counts of serious sexual assaults against children while posing as a teacher, photographer and Christian in Malaysia. That is no to say that he only committed that many. Authorities were able to find evidence for 91 incidents, all of which Huckle initially denied. He was eventually convicted for 71 of those offences, however, it is estimated that he had around 200 victims, possibly more.

Psychological analysis of the Moors murderers

The Moors murders were carried out by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley between 1963 and 1965, in and around Manchester, England. Their victims were five children aged between 10 and 17.

When Myra Hindley and Ian Brady were caught, they both pleaded not guilty and both gave evidence in their defence. This was a reflection of their arrogance and belief that they could actually get away with these crimes. Within just two hours a jury found Brady guilty of all three murders and Hindley guilty of two. As the death penalty for murder had been abolished while Brady and Hindley were held on remand, the judge passed the only sentence that the law allowed: life imprisonment. Brady was sentenced to three concurrent life sentences and Hindley was given two, plus a concurrent seven-year term for harbouring Brady in the knowledge that he had murdered John Kilbride.

Psychological analysis of Peter Sutcliffe

Peter William Sutcliffe was born on 2nd June 1946. He is an English serial killer who was dubbed the “Yorkshire Ripper” by the press. In 1981 Sutcliffe was convicted of murdering 13 women and attempting to murder seven others. He was sentenced to 20 concurrent life sentences, which were converted to a whole life order in 2010.

Sutcliffe had regularly used the services of prostitutes in Leeds and Bradford. The majority of his victims had worked as prostitutes. Peter Sutcliffe is an interesting case because it was only after he was convicted he was diagnosed as having paranoid schizophrenia. Later, he was declared sane and moved to a prison.

He died in hospital on the morning of Friday 13th November 2020 of COVID 19.

Episode 14 Aileen Wuornos

Aileen Wuornos was an American serial killer and sex worker who murdered seven men in Florida in 1989 and 1990 by shooting them at point-blank range. Wuornos claimed that her victims had either raped or attempted to rape her while they were soliciting sex from her, and that all of the homicides were committed in self-defence.

Wuornos admitted to killing seven men over a 12-month period, from December 1989 to November 1990, when she was 34 years old. All of the victims were middle-aged to late middle-aged Caucasian males.

Wuornos did have a very difficult life and was subjected to a lot of abuse and neglect. She was let down so many times in her life and I can’t help but feel really sad that she went through that. She was sentenced to death for six of the murders and was executed by lethal injection on October 9, 2002.

Episode 13 Fred West part 2

Most of us know about the case of Fred and Rosemary West. Fred West is an English serial killer who committed at least twelve murders between 1967 and 1987 in Gloucestershire. All the victims were young women. At least eight of these murders involved the Wests’ sexual gratification and included rape, bondage, torture and mutilation; the victims’ dismembered bodies were typically buried in the cellar or garden of the Wests’ Cromwell Street home in Gloucester. Fred is known to have committed at least two murders on his own, while Rosemary is known to have murdered Fred’s stepdaughter, Charmaine. The couple were apprehended and charged in 1994.

Fred West killed himself in prison whilst on remand so was never sentenced. He and Rose were convicted of nine joint murders and Fred with a further four. Rose was sentenced to ten life terms with a whole life order.

Episode 11 Greg Anderson

On 12 February 2014, Greg Anderson murdered his eleven year old son Luke Batty at cricket practice in Melbourne. Anderson hit Luke on his head over the head with a bat and then attacked him with a knife. Four police arrived soon after. He made no attempt to leave the scene after the attack on his son and continued to advance on police as the risk of being shot escalated.
